Verse of the Day

Romans 10:9-10

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Romans 10:9-10 - “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Welcome to the Caton United Methodist Church

Spring brings new life in Upstate New York! The grass is greening, the flowers are popping through the ground and the trees are budding. Christ brings new life as we celebrate Easter.  With joy we gather with other Christians to run to the tomb and find the "stone has been rolled away." There is new life--Praise The Lord!    Check out this video, www.

Before we run to the Easter celebration, we take time to remember that Jesus was tried, convicted, and put to death on the cross.  The account can be read in Luke chapter 22-23. Good Friday is the day we gather to reflect on all that happened.  Join with other churches in the Corning area this Friday, April 18th for services at noon at Christ Episcopal Church, First & Ceder Street in Corning.  There is a Good Friday Service at Caton UMC at 7 pm.  Also on that day we gather to carry the cross and pray along Market Street. Everyone is invited to join in this event of prayer and witness.  We begin at 1:15 at Christ Episcopal Church.

Easter Sunday finds us celebrating "Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!" We find new life for us  as individuals and as a          community, claiming that God continues to work in our lives. Join in the celebration at 7 AM with Caton UMC at the Sunrise I .Service. We meet at the church and travel to the Elmwood Cemetery to find that the stone has been rolled away and the tomb is empty.  Everyone is invited for breakfast following the service.

We continue the celebration with the Prayer & Praise Service at 9 am.  We sing our praises led by the praise band, pray together, hear the scripture read and proclaimed.  This is an informal service--come as you are!

At 10:30 we gather for the  Traditional Service with hymns, organ music, scripture readings and a message, "The Stone Has Been Rolled Away.

Let this Easter bring you new life through Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Friend.

                                                                                                                                         Pastor Beth

  Worship in the Prayer Garden

Caton UMC members join with a team of workers to serve in Union Beach, NJ.    We worked rebuilding a church so the community would have a place together after Hurricane Sandy.   (April, 2013)

In 2011, members and friends of the Caton UMC with help from area churches raised $10,000 to provide             "Water for Nigeria"

A water tanker was purchased and now water is taken to 10 communities in Nigeria.  This is one of the holding tanks where people come to get water.

This is a way to provide clean water in the dry season.
